ALESSANDRO SCIARAFFA. SINFONIA

The GAM of Torino, in its spaces of Room 1, presents Sinfonia, an immersive and participatory installation by Alessandro Sciaraffa (Torino, 1976), curated by Sara d’Alessandro Manozzo.

The project won the Italian Council call for proposals (9th edition, 2020), an international program in promotion of Italian art established by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. Intended for the permanent collection of the GAM, Sinfonia will move to the halls of the TSE Art Destination Foundation, in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.

Sinfonia consists of a gong, a sound system and a video projection on a mirror screen, inserted in a dark space to combine two of the fundamental themes in Sciaraffa’s work: the primitive sound of the gong and the observation of the Northern Lights.
